Backgammon is a classic two-player that is more popular than ever.

Legend has it that backgammon was invented in Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq) around 5,000 years ago. The modern version that is played today is believed to have originated in Europe in the 17th century.

The game is played on a board with 24 triangles called points. The points are arranged in two alternating colors, with each player starting with 15 checkers of their color.

The objective of the game is for each player to move their checkers to their home board (using the luck of the dice roll and strategy) and then bear them off the board. The first player to bear off all their checkers wins the game.
